The Sahara Desert has been a favourite destination for many tourists in Morocco, for good reason. Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains and enjoy exploring cedar forests, Berber villages, jagged rock faces, fossils and rocks in Midelt and nomadic families. This desert trip from Fes includes a camel trekking to see the sunset and sunrise, Berber dinner in the desert camp and overnight in nomadic tents.

Itinerary

Day 1

Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

After an early breakfast and pick up from your accommodation in Fes, You’ll meet your professional driver and start crossing Sais plains towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. We pass through Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco and winter ski resort), then we visit the cedar forests near Azrou for an opportunity to see some special kinds of Barbary Monkeys. Most of the day will be through the picturesque springs, forests, Berber village. Lunch will be at Midelt a Berber town renowned for rocks and fossils, then we carry on to Merzouga passing by a massive palm trees oasis. From there cross Erfoud and Rissani and begin to glimpse the huge dune of Erg Chebbi appear in the horizon. Depending on your arrive in Merzouga, we put our luggage in the hotel take a break then set out for our camel riding. The camel trek takes at least one hour through the massive and high Erg Chebbi dunes enjoying the quietness of the places, the desertic landscape and sunset. Finally after watching the sunset over the dunes trek down to the desert camp and get ready for the dinner under the stars and at the same time enjoy the drums music. Your night will be in a berber nomadic tent or under the stars.

Day 2

Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Fez

Earlier in the morning we will wake you up to enjoy a magnificent sunrise on the top of dunes, then we take a camel ride once again enjoying the beautiful scene to Merzouga. After an exhilarating breakfast and shower, we will leave for Fes traveling via The Ziz Valley where we will stop to enjoy the panoramic views and take some memorable pictures. Then we head to Midelt for lunch at leisure and we continue via the Middle Atlas Mountains. Afterwards we will stop in Azrou’s Cedar forest to feed the monkeys and visit some nomads living in caves. We depart to Fes through the charming village of Immouzer. Finally drop off to your accommodation in Fes.
